About the atoll
What Thaa is for, and what it isn't.
Thaa Atoll sits in the central-south, west of Laamu and east of the deeper ocean. It has one resort on our list, COMO Maalifushi, which occupies its own island on the eastern fringe of the atoll.
Surf breaks here run through the south-west monsoon, and the atoll picks up consistent swell from the open ocean. The domestic flight to Thimarafushi plus a speedboat makes the transfer longer than a seaplane, but the trade-off is an atoll that sees very few visitors outside the surf season.
